The first trilogy of films in the Spider-Man franchise are considered iconic productions around the world. Directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire, this trilogy may finally be coming back with a fourth film. It has been claimed that Spider-Man 4, starring Maguire again, has started filming.
Spider-Man 4 allegedly started filming
The Marvel world is abuzz with rumors of a Spider-Man 4 movie with Tobey Maguire reprising his legendary role. The new production will reportedly be a sequel to 2007’s Spider-Man 3, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Maguire as Peter Parker.
Thomas Haden Church, who played Sandman in Spider-Man 3, said he has heard rumors that Raimi may reunite with Maguire for his fourth film. Church said that if the project is officially announced, he would like to be involved.
Sam Raimi originally planned to make Spider-Man 4 after the third film in 2007, but the project was shelved due to a disagreement over a release date. “We had a script years ago and were actively working on production,” Raimi said in an interview last year.
The director added that he would be open to working with Maguire again on a new Spider-Man movie. With Raimi and Church’s recent statements, it seems that Spider-Man 4 is inevitable.
Sony, which owns the rights to the franchise, has yet to comment on the rumors. Though Church’s comments are far from official confirmation, the possibility of Raimi and Maguire reuniting one last time is not far off.
